BELLYPALOOZA

Don't miss this fun filled weekend of workshops, shows, and shopping! Topics range from Traditional to Cabaret and Fusion, Technique to Choreography and Improvisation, Folkloric to Turkish and Lebanese, plus Cymbals, Veil, Cane, Tambourine, Balancing, Middle Eastern Rhythms, Tabla Technique, and MORE! Saturday and Sunday classes from 9am to 5pm at the Mattin Center on the Johns Hopkins Campus in Baltimore. The Belly Dance Magic show is just around the corner at the Baltimore Museum of Art.


Dancers (Teachers & Performers)

Shems Shems is a respected professional Belly Dance Artist in the Washington DC and Baltimore metropolitan areas.
Nina Nina Amaya is a classic American Bellydancer, incorporating Egyptian and Turkish styles. She is adept with sword, double veil, fire, Wings of Isis and finger cymbals. She performs and teaches in the Baltimore area, specializing in festivals and private parties. A student troupe is available for bigger events.
Thalia Thalia, a dynamic and charismatic performer, is a professional Bellydancer based in the Baltimore/D.C. Area. The magnetism of her personality and her passion and enthusiam for the dance, makes her a favorite in restaurants and events of all cultures.
Bahiya Bahiya
Damiena Damiena is a performer of Middle Eastern dance in the MD/DC/VA area who captivates audiences with her Modern Egyptian dance styling and her emotive personality.
Amartia Amartia has had intensive formal training in the modern American, Egyptian, and Lebanese cabaret styles of belly dance. She even manages to sprinkle a little of her Greek folk dance experience on top to give her style some personal flavor.
Piper Piper is the director of the Baltimore Daughters of Rhea Dance Ensemble and winner of the prestigious Belly Dancer of the Year competition in 2000. Learn from an elegant professional with a 15 year career dancing in Arabic and Greek nightclubs around the world.
Naimah Naimah started with Cabaret but soon found her niche in the art of Tribal Fusion bellydance, blending American Tribal Style bellydance with classical Indian, hip hop, flamenco and a little dash of cabaret.
Nesmah Nesmah has studied bellydance in Turkey and has danced at the Hydrellez Romany festival in Edirnes and at the De Jemma El F'na Square in Marrakech.
DoriES Egyptian Sun Productions is a multicultural Middle Eastern dance group at The Johns Hopkins University, specializing in Turkish and Egyptian cabaret. It is the mission of our group to promote cultural awareness, creativity, individuality, and positive body image.
Mayada Mayada dances raqs sharqi - Arabic belly dance - and a variety of Middle Eastern folkloric dances. She uses a variety of props, including veil, sword, candles, cane, and finger cymbals.
Kostana Kostana and Sidqi are an Oriental dance and drum team brought together by our love for Turkish and Arabic dance and music. We often perform together but we are also solo artists. Kostana performs and teaches bellydance and Turkish Romani dance in the MD/DC/VA area. Sidqi teaches classes in beginning, intermediate, and advanced darabuka. Together, we host workshops in Middle Eastern, Turkish, Balkan and Rromany music and dance.
MiaNaja MiaNaja is a performer, teacher, choreographer, emcee & singer. In demand for her sassy but elegant stage persona, she teaches Egyptian, Lebanese and Spanish fusion bellydance with an emphasis on technique and personal styling. She is SSSD and Amaya certified Level 1. Classes are in Columbia & Gaithersburg. Workshops in Choreography, Veil/Double veil, etc. As an Attorney, she also teaches workshops on business basics and entrepreneurship for artists. www.mianaja.org
Ruta Ruta Moragh has been in dancing the Middle Eastern discipline since 1982, and has since added Tribal Style and Georgian and other Central Asian forms. As an active teacher and performer in the art, shares its beauty and benefits with all her heart
