Out of all the positive comments that I have had from clients, the one that I appreciate most is: "You're easy to work with!" I like to make clients happy by giving them something they appreciate. This entails working closely clients and accurately translating their ideas.
The Design Process
I always start a new site thinking about what it would look like in print. If clients have an idea of what they might like, I would base a preliminary screen shot on that. If not, I create a few that I think may interest them. A screen shot usually will consist of photo manipulation and/or graphic creation. Once I have some sample screen shots, I pass them along to the clients for their approval. After we tweak the samples to get the right look for them, I go to work on coding it, all the while checking with the clients for text and photo updates. When designing, I look for opportunities to provide interactive and dynamic content that blend in smoothly with the overall look and feel of the site.
Once clients have approved the final, fully coded site, I register their desired domain names and obtain storage space for the sites. Upon request, I will also register bellydance-related sites on various dance rings and/or add a visible site counter to the site. Clients can also have their own email addresses linked to their sites.
Hosting and Design Costs
MD Bellydance Sites
The sites listed on MD Bellydance's home page here are all on the same server. This is possible since these sites are often small; combining sites saves the clients a good deal of money every month. They all still have their own domain names and email addresses. Clients also have the ability to update their content instantaneously through their accounts. Their galleries, however, still need to be done by hand since each one is different. Because of the intralinking, they will also have the benefit of higher search engine visibility. Any site based in Maryland or surrounding areas and relates to bellydance or related topics can become part of MDBD.
A site package includes a custom design with a index, gallery, booking, reviews, shopping, schedule and two miscellaneous pages. The gallery style is up to the client; it can look like one of the existing ones on any of Nesmah's, Eva's, Thalia's, or Damiena's sites, or can be custom-designed. This package also includes basic Paypal functions, but no inventory capabilities.
This package costs $200 for a new site and $175 for an existing one. Hosting costs are $50 per year.
Sites Off MDBD
For static sites off MDBD, design costs will be around $500. The cost for full e-commerce sites will be around $3000. A mult-user organization or information site costs about $2500. For more details about these sites, see the sample contracts, or please contact me if you have any further inquiries.
My preferred method of payment is to host[@]habibihon[.]com through Paypal, but please contact me if you would like to pay by another method.
Search Engine Optimization
Design services include basic search engine optimization (SEO) functions. All the pages on all sites will have code that helps search engines find the sites. After the sites are up and running (usually less than a day), I start performing other basic SEO functions. This includes but is not limited to registering sites for the major search engines and directories.
The best way to increase search engine rankings is to have incoming links. This is left between the clients and other sites. If clients would like links FROM other sites, it is their responsibility to contact the administration of those sites. I will, of course, add any links to clients' sites, whether or not that link is reciprocated. If clients are not sure of whom to ask for a link, I can advise them more in detail on the subject.
[Please note that I do not advocate aggressive SEO since it often backfires on sites that try it.]
Maintenance
MD Bellydance Sites
Every month, all MDBD clients receive emails requesting updates to schedules or desired changes. These changes will be incorporated within 48 hours of my receiving the returned emails. Monthly maintenance includes updating schedules and adding pictures.
Clients will also receive reminders that their service is about to expire, one with one month remaining, and then again with one week remaining.
Sites Off MDBD
I include six months of maintenance with these sites. After that, maintenance can be done either through a separate yearly contract, or on an hourly basis.
Other Services
Upon request, I will also provide other services: business card design (not printing), dance card design (not printing), photography, blog template design, logo creation, photo editing and graphic design. These costs will vary.

Code Details
My standard code is XHTML 1.0, either Transitional or Strict. I also use CCS1 and JavaScript 1.5, which are compatible with all major browsers. All HTML coding on sites will be validated by The World Wide Web Consortium, unless there are coding conflicts between the HTML and JS which would render the JS inoperable. I use PHP 4 and MySQL 4 or 5, depending on the server, for dynamic coding.
