LOCATION
The restaurant is located at 1842 E. Joppa Rd. Parking is located on all four sides of building. How easy is that?
WHAT TO EXPECT
The restaurant has regular Sunday patrons before us. You MUST NOT get there early. Doors open at 4:00pm.
The show will start with drumming and dancing.
There will be a buffet of Indian food. Your drinks are not included, nor is a tip, in the $20 entrance fee. There will be an intermission.
Students and professionals dance at these haflas, and you are encouraged to clap and zhagareet for them all. Joyful noise is welcome and appreciation is a good thing.
If you are pulled up to dance, do so! And then sit back down before the song ends so the dancer can finish her song. There can be open dancing at the end.
PERFORMERS
Doors open at 3:30pm for dancers only. Dancers please make your guest aware of this. The leader of each troupe and all soloists get in and eat for free. Performers who don't fit on the free list are required to buy the buffet- make sure your troupe members get on the 'discount' list. Guest musicians sometimes can fit on the discount list. The headline dancer for each month is paid for her performance. Any questions about this should be addressed to Tydirah well before the day of the show.
Here are some tips to remember :
Give yourself time to get to the venue on time.
Bring safety pins.
Bring your music on a CD with nothing else on that CD.
Breathe deeply and remember you are among friends.
Bring a coverup. Wear your cover up.
There is no changing room, just a bathroom that all must use. There is an area where dancers can 'hang out' and make adjustments outside the bathroom, but please don't change in the restaurant! Also, there'll be a dancer's table to sit and enjoy!!
