Belly Dance Delight Troupe!Once you have learned some of our choreographies through the beginners classes, or through workshops, you might join us in troupe! Professional dancers sometimes join before then, if they want to contribute their own solos to our shows and pick up choreographies in practice. We have a lot of fun and perform a lot. You can see us on YouTube by searching for :"Artscape Belly Dance" . We get to work with live music at some of our gigs. Troupe dues are $35/ month and cover classes, practices, performances and access to some costumes and props, such as swords. Troupe members do need to buy and make some personal costumes to match the troupe. | |

| This class will start up again in the fall. Receive quality instruction in basic belly dancing techniques! Tone abs, buns and thighs and promote better posture. Women of all ages, shapes and sizes are welcome. Wear comfortable attire; tee-shirt and leggings are suggested. I do want to be able to see your posture, so nothing too baggy. Bare feet or ballet slippers suggested. There are plenty of veils and hip scarves here to borrow or purchase, or bring your own. Belly Dance Delight - Beginning ClassStarting September 10th!My classes are fun and for mixed levels of ability. I'm great with beginners, because the dance didn't come easily to me, and I know how hard it can seem at first. I'm a working professional dancer, and can help an intermediate dancer work to bring her dance to the next level. This class is an ongoing drill of the basics, with a choreography embedded, great for beginners, for experienced dancers who want to drill, who are just starting with me, or who want to pick up a choreography. For 15 minutes after the regular one hour class, we'll work on a special topic, probably veil or sword . There are plenty of veils and hip scarves here to borrow or purchase, or bring your own. Wear comfortable clothing, yoga pants are perfect. I do want to be able to see your posture. $48 for 4 weeks. Drum Circle with Sidqi- FREE!Bring your darbuka, your tabla, your def.... Sidqi has taught at several east coast Balkan camps, the Folktours Mideast camp, Rakassah East, and last year he taught at the Mendocino Middle East Camp in CA. He has been head of percussion at Sahara Dance for years ( but taking this summer off to do drum circles) He has made several trips to Istanbul, Turkey, in search of Romani (Gypsy) teachers. In addition, he has had great workshops in his home, with Suhail Kaspar and Issam Houshan of the Bellydance Superstars. He is also founder of WMFC, which was the first organization to bring Rehan Tuscuz from Istanbul to DC, to teach Turkish Romani dance. Remedial Belly Dance!Want to learn to bellydance, but you are afraid you can't follow the directions? I'd like to teach a workshop for you! Time to be determined. Nina Amaya is a professional dancer with dancelexia- I feel your pain! As a former school teacher, I learned about different learning styles, and I'll help you to find your dance learning style. In a workshop limited to ten students, we'll go over some of the basic and not-so-basic moves . My regular classes are good for dancers of all kinds, but this class is limited to those who find it hard to learn, or those teachers who want to learn how to teach dancelexics. It will be supportive and fun. Just remember to breathe! 10 - 11:30 AM, $20 - you may bring a video camera, and I will give written notes! LIMITED to 10 students! | |
